Storm DamagePosted by overwhelmedpatient33

After 4 months of fighting, Farmers finally paid out $42,800 for the hail damage they originally offered $3,200 for

Wanted to share this because i almost gave up multiple times and maybe someone reading this needs to hear it. April hailstorm here in Kansas, baseball-size hail, 22 minutes of pure chaos. Took out the roof, siding on the north and east elevations, the gutters, two skylights, the AC condenser, and pretty much every screen on the house.

Farmers came out within a week and the adjuster spent maybe 30 minutes total. Offered $3,200 saying most of the damage was "pre-existing wear" and "cosmetic." I have photos from a roof inspection in November showing zero hail damage. Showed those to him on my phone. He shrugged, said i could appeal.

So i did. Hired a roofing contractor i trusted who pulled together a real estimate with line items, hired a public adjuster on contingency (10%), and submitted a 19-page supplemental claim packet. Took 11 weeks of back and forth. They sent out a second adjuster, then a third "field reviewer." Eventually they brought in an engineering firm to inspect the AC condenser specifically.

Final settlement check posted last Tuesday. $42,800 plus another $4,100 for additional living expenses for the 9 nights we stayed in a hotel during interior repairs. After the PA fee i netted about $42k. Things that mattered: documented EVERYTHING, kept a written log of every call and the name of every rep, sent everything certified, and didnt accept any of the partial offers they kept dangling. The PA earned every penny.
