Chicago area basement flooding - sewer backup coverage?

Heavy rain overwhelmed the sewers and we got backup into our basement. Destroyed everything down there. Insurance saying we dont have sewer backup coverage, just "water damage."

Is there a difference in Illinois? Isnt sewer backup a type of water damage? Trying to understand if I have grounds to appeal or if I really am just out of luck here.
