Does this count as bad faith? Adjuster has ignored me for over a month
I filed a homeowners claim for water damage from a burst pipe back in early February. The adjuster came out, did an inspection, said I'd hear back within two weeks with an estimate. That was 5 weeks ago. I have called 9 times. I have sent 3 emails. I have left voicemails. I get maybe 1 response for every 4 attempts, and that response is always some version of "still being reviewed, we'll be in touch."
Meanwhile I have a damaged bathroom I can't use and a contractor who's been waiting to start work. My policy has an additional living expense provision but I can't access it until the claim is officially acknowledged and I have no idea where things stand.
I've read a little about bad faith insurance practices but I'm not sure if what's happening to me actually meets that standard or if I'm just frustrated and want to put a label on it. Is this actually bad faith or is this just normal terrible insurance company behavior? And what's my next move?
