Hit and run in a parking lot - my dashcam saved my claim

Came out of the grocery store to find my car sideswiped. Big dent and scratches along the passenger side. No note, no witnesses, nothing.

Filed a police report and figured I was stuck with my deductible. Then I remembered my dashcam has parking mode. Checked the footage and got a clear shot of the other car and a partial plate number.

Police were able to track down the driver. Their insurance is now covering the full repair. Without the dashcam I would have been out $500 (my deductible) and had a comprehensive claim on my record.

Buy a dashcam with parking mode. Seriously. Best $150 I ever spent.
