Hurricane Dora claim experience on Maui

Not the wildfire (that was even worse) but Hurricane Dora did significant damage to our roof and windows. Wanted to share that Hawaii has specific requirements for hurricane claim handling.

Key thing I learned: Hawaii insurers must respond within 15 days and make payment within 30 days of agreeing on damages. When my insurer missed the 30 day window I cited HRS 431:13-108 and suddenly they found the money. Look up the Hawaii insurance code if youre having delays.
