Maine Winters - documenting for insurance purposes

After years of dealing with winter claims I wanted to share my system. I now take photos of my roof before and after every major storm, keep a weather log, and document any preventive measures I take (heat cables, roof raking, etc).

This documentation has helped me win two claims that probably would have been denied as "maintenance issues" otherwise. Maine insurers seem quick to blame the homeowner so proof helps a lot.
