Rental ReimbursementPosted by worried_homeowner_316

My rental car nightmare after a not-at-fault accident

Got hit by another driver, their fault, filed through their insurance. They approved a rental car... for 7 days. My car took 6 weeks to repair because of parts delays.

After 7 days they cut off the rental. Said "reasonable repair time has been exceeded." Meanwhile I need a car to get to work. Ended up paying $2,800 out of pocket for rental car costs that the at-fault driver's insurance should have covered.

Currently fighting to get reimbursed. Their adjuster says the delay was the body shop's fault not theirs. The body shop says theyre waiting on a part that has a nationwide backorder. Nobody wants to take responsibility.

Lesson learned: get the rental reimbursement coverage on your own policy. Its like $5/month and could save you thousands.
