Medical ClaimsPosted by annoyed_claimant_830

The appeals process is designed to make you give up

On my FOURTH appeal for a medical claim. Each denial takes 30-45 days to process. Then I have 60 days to appeal. Then another 30-45 day wait. Were talking 6+ months of back and forth for a $4,000 procedure that my doctor says is medically necessary.

Each appeal requires me to gather new documentation, write letters, make phone calls, and follow up constantly. I have a full time job. Most people would have given up by now and I think thats exactly what they want.

The system is broken. Insurance companies profit from denying claims and making the appeals process so exhausting that people stop fighting. Change my mind.
