Wildfire claim in New Mexico - insurer blaming me for brush

Lost part of our property to wildfire and now insurance is trying to reduce the claim saying we didnt maintain proper defensible space. The fire came from federal land and spread faster than anyone could react.

Does New Mexico have any laws protecting homeowners from this kind of blame shifting? We did have some brush but its desert - stuff grows fast and the fire season started early.
