Roof ClaimsPosted by stressedpolicyholder341

Adjuster came out 3 weeks ago and still nothing - is this normal?

So a hailstorm came through our neighborhood about 6 weeks ago and caused some serious damage to our roof. I filed a claim with State Farm within a few days and they sent an adjuster out pretty quickly - like 2.5 weeks after the storm. He walked around up there for maybe 45 minutes, took a bunch of photos, and said I'd hear back "within a few weeks."

That was 3 weeks ago. I've called twice and both times got told the claim is "still being reviewed." My roof has two tarps on it right now and we've had rain since. I'm starting to panic a little. Is 6 weeks total from the storm date normal? Is there anything i can do to speed this up, or am I just supposed to wait forever?

Also - should I have gotten a roofer out there before the adjuster came? I didn't know if that was allowed or if it would mess up the claim. Ugh, first time dealing with anything like this and I have no idea what im doing.
